Housed within the historic Palle Vahala (the former Royal Palace complex), the Kandy National Museum offers an immersive journey into the twilight years of Sri Lanka’s last independent kingdom. Built during the reign of King Sri Vikrama Rajasinha, the building originally served as the quarters for the royal harem before being transformed into a museum. Today, it preserves an invaluable collection of over 5,000 artifacts, including royal regalia, traditional Kandyan weapons, intricate jewelry, and historical documents that vividly tell the story of the unique cultural heritage and eventual fall of the Kandyan Kingdom.
