Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque

Built between 1908 and 1909, this historic landmark instantly grabs your attention with its mesmerizing, candy-striped red and white brickwork. Its unique Indo-Saracenic design subverts traditional architecture by swapping typical onion domes for whimsical, pomegranate-shaped ones, giving it the fairy-tale appearance of a vibrant pomegranate palace. Historically, its towering minarets were so distinct that sailors approaching the Colombo port used them as a visual beacon to navigate safely to shore.
